Building Safety Management
Building Safety Management Consultant support to help clients establish effective governance, understand dutyholder responsibilities and manage Building Regulations compliance This includes advising on appointments and competence, coordinating compliance activity, reviewing documentation and evidence, monitoring risks and actions, and helping maintain a clear audit trail to demonstrate that building safety requirements are being met.
What is the role of a BSM
A Building Safety Management Consultant provides independent, practical support to help the client establish and maintain effective arrangements for Building Regulations and building safety compliance. The role can include clarifying dutyholder responsibilities, reviewing appointments and competence, developing the compliance strategy, coordinating the design and construction teams, monitoring actions and risks, and reviewing evidence that the work meets applicable requirements.
For higher-risk building projects, support may also cover the golden thread of information, change control, mandatory occurrence reporting and preparation for Building Safety Regulator submissions. The consultant supports and provides assurance to the client but does not replace the legal responsibilities of the appointed dutyholders.
Practical Building Safety Management
We provide practical and strategic Building Safety Management support tailored to the client, project and level of risk. At a strategic level, we help establish governance, define responsibilities, assess competence and develop proportionate compliance and information-management arrangements. At a practical level, we coordinate dutyholders and project teams, review designs and supporting evidence, monitor actions and risks, support change control and maintain a clear audit trail.
Through regular reporting, advice and challenge, we help clients retain oversight, make informed decisions and demonstrate that Building Regulations and building safety requirements are being effectively managed throughout design and construction.
